The Jazz Workshop Biggish Band's ongoing 'monthly concert' campaign will see a change of venue this month with the band starting a new series of 'last-Friday-of-the-month' concerts at the Independent Armchair Theatre in Observatory, Cape Town on Friday May 30th. The concert will be a welcome return to this intimate venue where we successfully ran a similar series during the winter of 2002. The gig will start at 21h00, and entrance will be R25.

On this occasion we'll be featuring another new composition, an up-tempo cooker called Something Jive, composed and arranged for the JWBB by Stephen Draper, our 4th Trumpet player.

Then, on the following Wednesday, June 4, the JWBB will be opening this year's prestigious Kirstenbosch and Master Currency Winter Concerts at the Old Mutual Conference Centre in the Kirstenbosch Visitors' Centre. This will be an earlier start, at 19h30, with soup, pastries and coffee available from Cafe Botanica in the visitor's centre before the music starts, and drinks available from a cash bar at the Conference Centre before & during the concert. Tickets for this year's series are R50 or R55 if booked telephonically (761 2866). Further enquiries at the Kirstenbosch Ticket Office 799 8782/3.
