Come see Hanepoot & the Biggish Band in Concert at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre on Saturday September 16 at 17h00.

This cooking 18-piece big band led by Jannie 'Hanepoot' van Tonder on trombone will play 1 set from its purely South African pad.

We've performed at the Waterfront Amphitheatre a number of times during the Jazzathon Festivals etc. and it's always a jol -- a great outdoor venue with proper seating and an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. Enjoy the view of the mountain while listening to South African big band grooves, with the odd the seagull joining in, and of course there are a number of top restaurants right there if you let us set you up for an evening out .. perhaps catch a movie .. and the music is free!

Expect to hear some lekker new arrangements of South African jazz classics (tunes by Errol Dyers, Zakes Nkosi, Dollar Brand, Chris McGregor, Hugh Masekela, etc) as well as some great originals composed for us by Merton Barrow, David Ledbetter, Douglas Armstrong, 'Hanepoot' van Tonder and others. The music includes traditional Cape Town goema and Johannesburg marabi tunes, as well as some regular big band swing.

The concert will start at 17h00 and there is no entry fee.
